Mark Dee’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Antoniou 2022
October 28, 2022
Just got right hip resurfaced by Dr Antoniou in Montreal about 18 hours ago. Back at the hotel. I tried walking around the room with no crutches/walker, backwards, forwards, sidesteps. SHort steps but unassisted. I told this to the nurse who came by to bring me a walker, she was worried and said it’s too early to be walking without assistance.

I had my right hip resurfaced about 1.5 months ago. I’m back at the gym and I’m not getting much pain anymore. The one problem is that my right leg now feels noticeably longer than the left leg. It feels awkward and off balance. I am walking mostly straight but with a slight gait but it feels like that is due to having a longer right leg, not because of pain. Has anyone else had this issue? Also, my left hip has lately been feeling slightly sore, but so slight that it’s not actually painful, just a small discomfort. I Am hoping that this is just the flexor tendon that is being overworked due to the compromised right side, and hoping that it is not the beginning of osteoarthritis in my left side. I will get x rays to verify.

I just got my right hip resurfaced 3 months ago. I was very excited but now the issue of longevity of the hip is bothering me. I know I will be able to do everything, technically, but I almost don’t want to do Muay Thai, running etc anymore like I used to be I don’t want to wear out the joint. If I start those impact activities again I won’t even be able to enjoy it because I’ll constantly be thinking about wearing out the joint and end up having to get a total hip replacement earlier. Anyone feel this way? Also, if I wanted to run, would sprinting be a safer option than distance running, even though sprinting would be harder impact, although much less steps
