Jim E’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Rogerson 2014
Jim was told at age 43 that total hip replacement was his only option for pain relief and motion improvement. Luckily he found out about Dr. Rogerson and Birmingham hip resurfacing. Six months following his BHR Jim is back playing hockey, waterskiing, running and playing golf without any pain!
“I was diagnosed with severe degenerative arthritis in my left hip in March 2014 at the age of 43. I had always led a very active lifestyle, playing a variety of sports with my favorites being ice hockey, golf, and slalom waterskiing. When I was first diagnosed by a local orthopedic surgeon, I was told that I would need a total hip replacement and that I would be limited in my activities post-op. Ice hockey and slalom waterskiing would present significant risks and were not recommended, and any type of running would be out of the question. I was very devastated as I was not ready to change my lifestyle so significantly at such a young age. I was not going to accept this without being certain that I had no other options.
This is when I found the website surfacehippy.info and saw the video of Dr. Rogerson talking about Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. This seemed like a better option for me compared to a total hip replacement, so I set up an appointment with Dr. Rogerson. Dr. Rogerson spent a long time with me explaining my options and answering all of my questions. I immediately felt a high level of trust, compassion and confidence in him.
I had a BHR on my left hip in December 2014 and the level of care during the procedure from Dr. Rogerson, his staff, Stoughton Hospital and HipHab was exceptional. I could not have asked for a better experience. My recovery was very quick, I was back to work within 6 weeks, and at 6 months post-op I was back playing hockey, waterskiing, running and playing golf without any pain. I could not imagine where I would be today without Dr. Rogerson.” -Jim E.
