Normal Gomersall’s Hip Resurfacing with Mr. McMinn 2001
Norman Gomersall, an active Karate teacher, had a hip resurfacing operation in 2001. In a sport where agility and flexibility is key, Norman’s left Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) ‘gave him his live back’. The operation was performed by Mr McMinn.

Karate teacher Norman Gomersall had felt the strain on his left hip for a long period of time, owing it to the nature of his profession and an injury sustained at the age of 22.
Regular weekend Karate training courses began to take their toll on Norman, who feared that waiting any longer for a replacement would ultimately leave him in a wheelchair. “I would train on the Saturday for four hours and on the Sunday I could barely walk. My body was trying to protect itself and it took all of the following week to recover.”
A left Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) operation was performed by Mr McMinn on Norman in 2001. Over ten years on, Norman’s hip still feels ‘new’ and he says the BHR “really gave me my life back.”
Norman’s advice for anyone considering this procedure is to not think twice. “If there’s anybody out there thinking “should I go for this operation?” I’m telling you now — it’s the best thing you could give yourself – A new lease of life which you’ll live to the full.”
