…The Ducks said the surgery was performed May 9 by Dr. Edwin Su in New York. The procedure is less invasive than a full hip replacement and does allow for the possibility for the 34-year old Kesler to resume his career following a lengthy recovery…

Best thing I have ever done! Got my left hip resurfacing with Mr McMinn in 1999 and 20 years later it’s still great. I’m an active person doing cycling, walking, swimming, gym and judo. A normal hip replacement would have probably been revised 20 years ago! Right hip resurfacing done in 2014 and perfect and still very active at nearly 67.
Hip Resurfacing patient, Andy Murray, meanwhile, may have been watching on with interest in the match with Bob Bryan. Bob Bryan secured a second title of the season. Bob is returning to tennis after hip resurfacing surgery at the start of this year.
Bryan had the same hip resurfacing operation as Andy. He won the three-time Grand Slam champion last summer. He partnered his brother Mike to a 7-5 7-6 (10-8) win over Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas and the Netherlands’ Wesley Koolhof.
Bob had his hip resurfacing with Dr. Su in 2018.
It has been so long since I reached out to say hi and I apologize for that. Once you get your life back you tend to jump in full blast and not look back. I hung around the surface hippy site for a few years but when the notes became so negative I had to back off. It wasn’t syncing with what was going on in my life post-surgery. I just saw Dr. Rubinstein last week and I thought about you and wondered how you were doing. I am writing to do just that.
I hope all is still well with you and the family. I started playing hockey 6 months after surgery and continue to play to this day … Read the rest

I am 2 years post op as well. Last November I celebrated my one year BHR by riding the 100 mile Maah Dah Hey trail in North Dakota on my mountain bike in one day. My hip performed flawlessly. This last summer I competed in the Breck Epic mountain bike stage race which was 240 miles and 40,000 ft. of climbing over 6 days. My hip felt great. My Birmingham hip actually felt stronger than my good hip. I met a person at the Breck Epic that had his hip done by Dr. … Read the rest

I found out I qualified for as an age-grouper for Team GB in the world aquathlon champs in Pontevedra, Spain in May 2019. I passed the one year postop landmark feeling strong and ready to crank-up the run training. I have just completed my first run race for over 5 years and managed 21:32 for 5k – not at all fast but going in the right direction.
My hip feels great – all those squats, lunges, bridging, hopping, jumping … seems to have worked. About to start next phase of run training to include speedwork and plyometrics plus strength training in the gym – hope to be under 20 mins in the summer.… Read the rest
Bottom Line Up Front – BHR has allowed me to have my life back. I’m a 7 Year BHR Alumni of the BHR Club (Dr. Brooks, Cleveland Clinic) and want to give you, those who are considering or are already soldiering through the initial stages of post surgery/PT, confirmation that it is all worth the struggle.
First, as a baseline, I’m a 56 year old male, in the military, reserves now, first diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips when I was 40. I’m married to an awesome woman, and father to a fine son who is also a pain in the ass. My family and my service are numbers 1 and 2 of why I went forward with hip resurfacing. … Read the rest
November 27, 2018 I had my right hip resurfaced the day before Thanksgiving 2015 by Dr. Gross. I could not be any happier with the results to this point. I went almost 10 years with bone on bone in my right hip and had a very noticeable limp for years before getting the HR. The only cardio I could do during this period was the stationary bike. This surgery was life changing for me.
When I was finally able to start running 6 months after surgery I knew I would have a lot of issues with other than my hip. The last time I was able to run was 2006 – I was 42. I managed to run in … Read the rest
