Hip Resurfacing is still possible for women. See the wonderful stories from active, athletic women below
Only a few hip resurfacing surgeons in the US still do women. If you want a hip resurfacing, you can find out if you are a candidate by emailing the surgeons who do women. Most BHR surgeons no longer do women. Dr. Gross and Dr. Pritchett use different hip resurfacing devices and will give women a hip resurfacing if they are good candidates. Both surgeons have done over 5000 hip resurfacings. Also many of the very experienced overseas surgeons still do hip resurfacing for women. Here is a list of experienced hip resurfacing surgeons:

5 years today November 19 with my Left BHR Birmingham Hip Resurfacing and 30 months with my Right THR total hip replacement.
Both are doing well, although my Right leg had a problem with thigh pain over Xmas last year. Still managed to keep climbing and cycling but had to stop running for a couple of months. Since then have gone from strength to strength – long days in the hills, long bike rides, longish runs including a 10 mile race (for the first time in 9 years, and 10 minutes slower than those heady days) and gradually getting decent fitness back. Still got all the other problems you are supposed to get at my age but the hips … Read the rest
Blinky’s Original Story is Here: https://surfacehippy.info/blinky-s-bilateral-hip-resurfacing-with-dr-gross/
Today is my four year anniversary for bilateral hip resurfacing with Dr. Gross. How time flies!
The short update is that everything is going well. I run, I swim, I dance, I climb, I walk, I do everything I want to do. Other body parts are wearing out and giving me trouble, but not my hips. The biggest roadblock to my improving continues to be time to train. Because I feel so good, I am out there working, traveling, studying, living a rich and full life.
The longer update is that I ran three half marathons last year and became a regular at a Boot Camp type class that featured burpees, TRX, and squats. I am still not a … Read the rest

November 3, 2019
Recently celebrated my 4 year anniversary for my right side BHR with Dr Treacy. I held off till today to post as this morning I had entered my biggest race to date, the Ballbuster Duathlon which consists of 5 x 8 mile loops, 1 run/3 bike/1 run with the last 2 miles of each loop uphill. But the weather was awful and the race was stopped after the 1st lap of the bike. That’s England for you.
But generally speaking this has by far been my best year. Everyday life has always been great but racing has been inconsistent with some pain sometimes but no pattern or any way of identifying the triggers. So at … Read the rest
It’s been 2 weeks since my surgery by Dr Su .I am very happy with the surgical outcome (so far) and also feel the HSS hospital is extremely professional. I traveled from Israel to NY ,was assigned a coordinator for overseas patients,Katherine Alcantara who escorted me on the pre-op examinations and helped with all the logistics. All email and phone consulting was handled very efficiently by Dr Su’s PA Jesse.
I was an active runner completing 8 marathons from 2005-2016. Around 2 years ago I started having pain during running .I tried Pilates &Phisiotherapy. After about 6 months I went to an Orthopedist who after examining my X-rays told me I have OA of my right hip. He suggested to wait as long as I … Read the rest

This is the first training session after surgery where I train my legs with kicks and Vovinam techniques. Obviously it’s all a bit like starting over but knowing what to do. At the moment the real muscular and non-articular sober difficulties. The left hip works great. I feel free .. in short, new, but my muscles need a good workout, more than anything else because I could no longer stretch as I was used to, so I lost a lot of elasticity, but I will definitely get back in shape … Read the rest
