Doug’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Mori 2009
June 23, 2009
May 4th 2009 I had my left hip done in Honolulu buy Dr. Mori. I was back at work in 14 days and have been blessed with a smooth recovery. I feel so good I have to restrain myself from overdoing activities I think I could do. The right hip is scheduled for late August.

I’m 158 days post left hip and 46 post right hip now and I couldn’t be happier. Right hip went very well–two less days in the hospital (3) and no blood transfusions. I couldn’t wait to get out and one crutch around till the 50% weight bearing restriction was lifted. I attribute the better recovery to Arthrotec which facilitated bicycle riding and swimming prior to the second surgery. When I went off the Arthrotec 10 days prior to surgery the right hip pain made it unmistakably clear that the x-rays were right. Arthrotec, for me, worked better than Advil, Celebrex, Naproxin and even Percocet. Being off drugs completely is really a relief. You are right about each surgery being slightly different. Prior to each surgery each hip had a different way of hurting. With the left one it was the side of the joint that hurt, with the right it was the front or groin region. Range of motion of the left was quickly better and PT helped a lot. Right hip has slightly less RO and the groin region still needs to be stretched and worked. PT helps and improvement is seen daily.
I have read on other posts about the weakness in the internal rotator control and notice if I have to run or move quickly, the knees tend to rotate inward. I thought this was just a matter of healing and exercise. BHR people run marathons but I can’t run on the right hip for another two months.
