J E Macpherson’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett 2011

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on November 28, 2015 by Patricia WalterOctober 24, 2017

March 30, 2012

I had a right hip done by Dr. Pritchett July 2011 and I’m very happy with the results.  I was 57 years old at the time and active.  My main problem after the surgery was a very tight and painful iliotibial band (sp?) but it finally stretched out fine and I’ve had no problems with it since.  I returned to running and did the 5K Turkey Trot on Bainbridge Island in November … Read the rest

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on October 13, 2015 by Patricia WalterAugust 10, 2017

My name is Rob, I have been reading information on this site since 2012, and never posted anything. I figured if other stories have helped me, maybe my story could help someone else ? Words cannot express how helpful this site has been to me!

Thank you Pat!

A little background…When I was a freshman in high school I was 6’4″ 265lbs, so naturally I played football and basketball. My sophomore year I had grown … Read the rest

Luanna’s hip resurfacing story Dr. Pritchett 2011

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on September 17, 2015 by Patricia WalterAugust 9, 2017

I had my right hip resurfaced on Aug. 30, 2011 at age 59. I’m three weeks into it and doing ok. Dr. Pritchett used a hybrid mix of a Stryker X3 acetabular component with a BHR femoral component.

10 years ago, as I walked briskly with my best friend on our daily excursion through the neighborhoods of Seattle, I began to notice that after 15 minutes of walking I began to favor my right leg

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on September 17, 2015 by Patricia WalterAugust 9, 2017

I am 5 weeks out from left hip resurfacing surgery (conserve plus) by Dr. Pritchett (Seattle, WA). I started physical therapy a couple weeks ago. The therapist suggested an upright stationary bike with the seat raised so as not to exceed the 90 degree restriction.

Only in last week or so has the swelling in my knee decrease to the point where I have more than very limited movement. Previous to last week, I could … Read the rest

Steve’s Bilateral Hip Resurfacing 2008/2009 Dr. Pritchett

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on September 17, 2015 by Patricia WalterAugust 9, 2017

I am 33 and had a LBHR done by Dr. Pritchett this winter. I too have skied all my life……backcountry, resort, heli, halfpipe, terrain park, all of it. I’ve heard of people retiring to ski after hip resurfacing, but not necessarily at a high and aggressive level.

I was 33 when I had my first on 12/23/08 and 34 when I had my second on 12/23/09.

Shabbis’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett 2014

October 20, 2014

I am a 41 year old male with FAI and HOA in both hips. I was diagnosed in 2012 and was told by a local ortho here in Portland that I would need a THR in both hips and to go as long as I could before getting it done. I felt that wasn’t a good enough answer and started to look for other options. … Read the rest

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on April 18, 2015 by Patricia WalterSeptember 30, 2017

January 6, 2015

I had my RBHR done yesterday morning by Dr Pritchett. Yesterday was really encouraging for me. Post-op pain was easily managed and boredom had me begging for a PT by late afternoon and I got my wish granted around 6 pm. Got some exercises done and did a short walk around my room and a longer walk down the hallway with him, then later that night and even longer walk with my … Read the rest

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on April 16, 2015 by Patricia WalterApril 16, 2015

Jim Turk’s Acetabular Cup Revision of Hip Resurfacing by Dr. Pritchett 2013

My initial resurfacing had an alignment issue, causing noise (audible squeaks, pops, etc.). Over the course of my first 18 months, the situation deteriorated, and I finally got a blood test done. Sure enough, I had very high metal levels. Damn…metalosis! I needed a second surgery on my newly repaired hip.

I consulted with my surgeon (Dr. Pritchett in Seattle), and he was … Read the rest

Bryn’s Bilateral Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett 2011

Personal Blog Here http://onehipdude.blogspot.com/

In March 2010 I found out that I simply had bi-lateral OA from a not-so-helpful Dr. that said nothing about impingement, femoracetabular impingement (FAI), potential treatment options,…eventhough he was looking at my x-rays during the exam. Sadly I walked out of there thinking that my active lifestyle was over at the ripe old age of 41. He said, “I’m not trying to sell … Read the rest

September 6, 2014

I had my right hip resurfaced on August 12th 2014 by Dr. Pritchett in Seattle WA. Things are going pretty well for me but I don’t know whether or not I may be pushing things too fast. I don’t have good success listening to my body about my limitations so I’m hoping you all can give me some guidance.

Evan’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett 2014 July 23, 2014 After some lurking and the recent decision to get a BHR, I have decided to step up and introduce myself. John Marken Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett 2007

December 28, 2010

I’ve taken quite a few tumbles post resurfacing surgery almost 3 years now. I took a pretty good slider 4 months post surgery biking probably 20mhp on the replaced side. Hip hurt, shoulder hurt, hand bloody and I was scared. I was able to get back on and finish the last 20miles to the car. I called the doc later in the week to … Read the rest

Going on 4 years post BHR right side and I still get bone pain when walking too far on hard surfaces on that side. Yet I can put hiking boots and a pack on do 16 miles on mountain trails and even alpine climbing no problem. Likewise with long bicycling. I just have a hard time walking on cement or similar in walking shoes. I’ve even … Read the rest

Jace’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett 2008

May 6, 2008

It has been 3 weeks today from my BHR resurface. The experience has been excellent!!.. from the office visit, surgery, Hospital stay, and recovery thus far. I was walking without cruches the day after the operation. Granted just a few hundred feet, but able to go up and down the halls without aid. Pain was minimal. I used crutches for a week just to be … Read the rest

I am scheduled for a metal on poly with Dr. Pritchett next month after reading success stories and having friends in other states (all males between 49-55) having great success with resurfacing.

Jeff’s Bilateral Hip Resurfacing Dr. Pritchett 2012/2013

April 1, 2012

I’m 37 years old and have been playing basketball once a week for the last five years or so. In August I started distance running, running 20-25 miles a week. In October I ran a half-marathon (1 hr. 35 min.) and was really enjoying running. In November, I started to feel serious pain in my hips after I ran, then it became persistent. A few … Read the rest

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on January 24, 2013 by Patricia WalterAugust 16, 2018

This week marks six months since my left hip resurfacing with Dr. Pritchett, below is my personal hip resurfacing story.

All in all, I feel really good. Range of motion continues to improve. In some planes of movement, it is now significantly better than it was before surgery. I am still sore in my glute and outer flank of my quad. Wouldn’t call it pain, but sore, like after a solid leg workout. Keep in … Read the rest

Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy Posted on January 24, 2013 by Patricia WalterOctober 24, 2017

I’m a bilateral Birmingham, having done my first hip (right) on July 1, 2008, and my second (left) just two weeks ago, on September 30, 2008. After my first surgery I experienced some blurring of vision post op, and my excellent surgeon (Dr. James Pritchett, Seattle) told me that it sometimes happens but they aren’t sure exactly why – some combination of the drugs plus the surgery itself. First hip it went away in less … Read the rest
