I am a high school phys ed teacher and head wrestling coach in NJ. I am having hip resurfacing with Dr. Boettner at Hospital for Special Surgery on June 6, 2009.

Douglas’s Bilateral Hip Resurfacing Dr. Mori 2009
I had left hip resurfaced on May 5, 2009 and the right one August 25, 2009. Both were done in Honolulu at Kuakini Hospital by Dr. Hyato Mori. I was 63 at the time. Each recovery was uneventful. I was surfing in 3 months, skiing and snowboarding at 6 months. I am so grateful to have my life back pain free.

Phil Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Cook April 17, 2013
I am a 60 year year old male. I finally had my resurfacing (BHR) done by Dr. Cook 04/17/13 and doing great!
Dr. Scott Cook was outstanding. I was standing later in the day after the surgery, and moving around the next day comfortably with a walker. The pre-operation hip pain is all gone.

Dr. John Antoniou replaced two hips with the articular resurfacing. The first one was done in 2007 the second one this summer 2009. I am 69, perhaps one of the older gals that have had this done. My recovery has been good and the first one I had done feels wonderful.

All of my pre op was done from Park City UT, so I didn’t meet anyone until the day before surgery. His assistant Jill was incredible. All of my pre op concerns were answered quickly and easily via email and phone. I showed up the day before surgery and stayed at the guesthouse at the hospital. Dr. James Verner did my surgery. Not sure how many he’s done, but in the Detroit area, he’s one of the more experienced with BHR and I would HIGHLY recommend him!!

Right now I feel a little bit of soreness near the incision, but they just turned on the ice unit, so I’m feeling relief already. When I say soreness, it’s very minor — maybe 2 out of 10.
The very nice nurse told me they usually remove the catheter at 6:am (it’s 7 now) but my blood pressure is low (88/50) so they are giving me fast IV push for 2 hours. … Read the rest
9 Year Anniversary 2019
I figured I’d check the hips as well, for my (almost) nine year anniversary.
The hips looked great, had blood work done for Cobalt (I guess they just track that now in that office), it came back at 1.0 with both hips.

I had a successful resurfacing with Dr De Smet 17 days ago and am feeling very strong.
While I was in Belgium my wound began to look red in a couple of places and I was put on anti-biotics for 8 days to prevent infection.
