November 11, 2017 – It is the eighteenth anniversary of my right side BHR being implanted. It has been well used, is still playing tennis several times a week and has improved my quality of life beyond measure.
The left side one was four years last month – also doing fine.

I had my left hip BHR resurfaced on 20th Nov 2000 by Mr D Mcminn and was working again , landscaping and race driving 3 months later. It’s brilliant and has kept my right hip going much longer than seemed possible ie. 13 yrs , but it now really badly needs doing. Metal-on-Metal (MoM) Hip Resurfacing has been around longer than many people realise. The BHR actually belongs to a family of MoM resurfacings that Mr McMinn began developing in the early 1990s. Hip resurfacing was of course introduced as an alternative to total hip replacement (THR) and aimed at younger patients whose active lifestyles made them unsuitable for a THR.
