This is exactly 5 weeks after having a Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
installed in my hip. At this point I was just beginning to walk
without any crutches or cane – you can see the atrophy in my right
leg (and my left leg). Without the ability to walk the muscle tone
disappears quickly – but it also comes back quickly.

Paul 12 Weeks After Surgery

This was exactly 12 weeks after I had surgery on my hip. It’s called
a “Birmingham Hip Resurfacing.”

It was performed by Dr. Scott Rubinstein in Chicago, on September
11, 2007.

At 12 weeks post-op I was able to walk in boots, and the limp in my
leg is gradually disappearing.

It’s amazing to recover to well!

Paul 19 Weeks After Surgery

This is exactly 19 weeks after surgery on my hip.
At this point I can walk without a noticeable limp, and can run up
stairs two at a time…

Dr. Scott Rubinstein in Chicago performed the surgery on September
11, 2007.

Most of my range of motion has been regained, the only limitation
being outward rotation of the femur. Gradually it will come back 🙂
