My hip resurfacing is still great and I never had problems with it. I still believe hip resurfacing is a great alternative to a total hip replacement for the right candidate – normally younger people that are very active and want no restrictions.

I had my hip resurfacing done Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital by Dr John McLaughlin. Surgery went smoothly. Home Wednesday. Feeling pretty good but tired. Note I’m a 65 year old male. Still active, and able to do HIIT (with modifications) and running (with walk breaks) before surgery. ** March 15, 2025 will be my 19 year Anniversary ** of receiving my BHR Birmingham Hip Resurfacing from Dr. De Smet in Belgium in 2006. During these years, I’ve carefully tracked hip resurfacing outcomes and patient experiences. I share my personal experience of the recovery process from hip osteoarthritis with the Birmingham hip resurfacing operation performed by Dr. Domb at the American Hip Institute in Chicago, USA.
At 73, Tim needed his other hip replaced. He had a hip resurfacing in 2010 and wanted that for his other hip. He met with Dr. Domb and received a second hip resurfacing. He feels is rehab and recovery is nothing short of miraculous.

Yesterday I accompanied by 78 year old dad on his stock 20 mile bike ride. Hes fit and I can never catch him in the last mile when he kicks. Yesterday for the first time, I did keep with him!
