Eric Bilateral Hip Resurfacing Jan 12 and May 4, 2010 Dr. Smit
I am currently in the hospital one day after having a BHR on my left hip. Three months ago I had the same procedure on my right hip. Hopefully I am now on my way to recovering some of the life I have lost. Less than five years ago I was playing professional basketball and getting ready to make the transition to my new career as a fire fighter. I was completely pain free, had |
Jim Bilateral Hip Resurfacing Dr. Schmitt 2010
June 6, 2010
I’m about to do my LBHR with Dr. Philip Schmitt in metro Detroit. He’s done about 700 BHRs so far, and according to his office he’s got a great success rate – only 6 failures/revisions. I apparently was born with femoracetabular impingement & have arthritis (10y+ at 41 y.o), and over the last year or so it’s degraded on the left side to where I can’t easily lift the leg up stairs, |
Tony’s hip resurfacing with Dr. Su 2010
January 15, 2010
I “retired” from running in 2008 and then
“retired” from cycling in 2009. I’m having surgery 2/4/10 by Dr. Su
at the Hosp for Special Surgery in NY. I’m 56 as well and was very
active and fit until 2008 (ran 40-50m/week). I chose a very
experienced doctor (1,000 plus surgeries) and the hospital is one of
the best in the nation.
The reality for me is that I’ve lost a few… Read the rest
Richard Shipman hip resurfacing RBHR Dr. Masonis May 17, 2010
I start this story of my hip resurfacing from the hospital room the day after my surgery. The road to this point was longer and more difficult than I had initially envisioned, and I felt that others might benefit from some of my experiences, as I have benefited from reading the input from others on this excellent site. First, a little background: I an a 66 years old – long in the tooth for most |
Paula’s Revision ASR to THR 2010
ALVAL, PSEUDOTUMOUR, HYPERSENSITIVITY … WHATEVER YOU CALL IT, IT’S A REVISION TO THR Having visited this site numerous times over the last few years, I thought it was time that I shared my experience with other past and future hip patients. I have recently undergone revision of my ASR to a THR because of a reaction to the metal on metal bearing. I know this issue is in the spotlight of the orthopedic hip community |
Rick Albanese Hip Resurfacing Dr. Abraham 2010
I am now 44, but had my left hip resurfaced on 11/17/10. I was 43
at the time.
My doctor was J. David Abraham with Northeast Orthopedics. The

I was home the next day, in fact I spent less than 20 hours in the
hospital. I arrived at 6 am on 11/17/10 and was home by 5PM on

JR RBHR Dr. Su 2010
I would like to commend Dr. Su for giving
me my life back. I’ve lived with an arthritic right hip for about 5
years until a friend of mine told me about the wonderful world of
hip resurfacing and Dr. Su in particular. I was skeptical about the
whole thing, but I decided to investigate the process. I liked what
I heard and as a result had hip resurface surgery on 7/8/2010.
After a rough … Read the rest
Jay Newberry RBHR Dr. Swank 2010
I was fortunate to be able to retire in 2005 at age 58, and the ensuing years had been wonderful. I have always been very active, bicycling, kayaking, long distance motorcycling, dirt bike riding, and hiking. Last year I rode my motorcycle from South Carolina to Alaska – and back. I hiked the Zaleski Trail in South Eastern Ohio, which is 27 miles of extreme elevation changes and very strenuous. I don’t like running, but |
Tony Russo Hip Resurfacing with Dr. McInnis 10/4/2010
I am 48 weekend warrior guy who went from
constantly moving to slowly dwindling activity to the point of
pretty much forcing myself up to our home gym 4 – 5 days/week.
Ultimately I found it was OA in my L hip that was holding me back. I
tried steroid injections which only showed me how things could be
with a better joint; I met with a local joint replacement
surgeon/friend who thought with my … Read the rest
Flame’s Revision of BHR to THR 2010
Early on (after resurf Dec’05) I experienced a lot of clicks pops etc and so had others, so whenever I mentioned it to Dr.. Ure and got x-rays which were just simple straight on AP x-rays he said it all looked fine no problems, but it didn’t really go away although when I did a lot of clams, it did go away for awhile, but it returned, the instability as I had come to realize |
