This week, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Darcey Bussell talked to MailOnline about her Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) surgery in 2014. Though not one of Mr McMinn’s patients, Darcey is a prime example of how BHR surgery is ideal for younger people suffering with hip pain wanting to resume an active lifestyle.
She said: “I had the resurfacing because I was too young to have a replacement. A lot of retired ballerinas have [hip replacements] but they usually wait until they are in their 60s, not 40s”
Similarly, ballet dancer turned coach Maina Gielgud had a BHR with Mr McMinn back in 1999. She said: “From that first day to this I have not had one moment of pain!”
