I thought this might help others trying to get insurance approval for out of state hip resurfacing. This was written by Dr. Gross on 20/29/2020.

Wording of Remote Consultation which was submitted to my Insurer by Dr Gross’ office.  This was the only attachment to an intake form for the Authorization application.

Chief Complaint:  Right hip pain.

I had a follow-up by phone with Dr. Schemitsch this morning. Late in 2020, I had X-rays taken at my local hospital (Chatham, ON) and sent to Dr. Schemitsch. He said that the X-ray looked perfect, which was no surprise given my experience since surgery. After my 12 week restrictive period ended in mid-March 2020, I began to be more aggressive about exercising. Greetings to Surface Hippies and soon to be Surface Hippies!

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of my bi-lateral hip resurfacing surgery. January 10 and 12, 2011. My resurfaced hips are doing very well and they allow me to be very active and live a healthy life. I am an avid hiker and backpacker even at 65 years old.

I am forever grateful for this amazing procedure and technology. It’s still hard to believe I have metal in my hips because I don’t feel it or have any limitations.

On May 7th 2020 I decided to have resurfacing surgery on my right hip to finally fix my bone on bone issue I been dealing with the last 3 years! The Country’s stoppage was a blessing in disguise for me in terms of allowing me to have the time to recover from this surgery and be mentally & physically ready for the upcoming 2020-2021 NBA season.
